I was supposed to be traveling to North Carolina this weekend for my final running event of the year but truth be told, I just didn’t have it me.
I needed a break.
In the past few months, I’ve been to Kentucky, St. Louis, Nashville, Savannah, New York, and Utah. The two months before that, the Jersey shore, Portland, OR, and Toronto. And lest I forget, Italy with my mom and Vermont with The Husband at the start of the year.
When I said I was going to make travel a priority, I meant it.
But there comes a time when you have to slow down, too. So when the person I was going to run the event with backed out, I decided to give myself (and the Husband) a break by skipping that trip.
However, I have 4 more possible getaways in the works for the rest of the year.
I know. I’m crazy.
But as I learned from Jen earlier this year, I never want to be the one who says, “Why didn’t I go?”
1. Girls’ Weekend to Ocean City, MD
Ok, this one isn’t a possibility, it’s happening! I’m so grateful to have been invited to a fun girls’ weekend with new friends. It’s super cheap being off season and we’ll be spending all day Saturday at the spa. Seriously, what more can a girl ask then a day or two with friends and a massage?
2. Food Event in San Antonio, TX
I don’t have many details yet but I was invited to an event by a brand I’ve been working with. They are covering expenses and, well, that’s about all I know at this point. I’ll keep you posted. I’ve never been to San Antonio!
3. Photo Shoot in Los Angeles
This is another possible trip I don’t have many details for yet. I’m working on a story with “Ladies Home Journal” and there’s a photo shoot and possible TV appearance involved, too! I’m super excited and will share more as soon as I can.
4. Hotel Tours in Denver, CO
Based on the past two years of conference planning for FitBloggin‘ I’ve come to realize that venue searching is complicated and time consuming. So as I’m planning FitBloggin’14 for June in Savannah, I’ll also be searching for the location of FitBloggin’15. I know, CRAZY!
Considering three of the four trips involve plane rides and there are only two more months in the year, I’m going to be one very busy lady. Thankfully two of the trips are expense-paid “jobs” and one is a business expense for my company. Maybe one day I’ll be able to travel without ulterior motives but until then I’m going to suck the marrow out of every trip I’m lucky enough to take for whatever reason.
