2 Girls. 1 World. A Whole Lot to See

THROWBACK THURSDAY

When Jen and I were kids, our parents took us to Ocean City, NJ, every year. This planted the seed for our travel obsession.

As teenagers we took a few other trips (one of them the BIG Hawaii trip!) but we didn’t start our traditional “yearly girls vaca” until we reconnected after college.

The only resource we had back then was time, considering neither of us has kids yet. Money, on the hand, was nonexistent. So we would travel midweek to destinations we could drive to, and in some cases, take advantage of friends who lived in vacation-like spots.

Lucky enough for us, one of my best friends from college, Danielle, moved to Florida a few years after graduation. She said we could stay with her freeing up what little cash we did have to buy plane tickets.

The first place we visited was Cocoa Beach.

See, Jen is perfectly happy laying around ALL day.

I, however, need to be doing something, which is why I think I’m always taking pictures.

You know what though, now that I have kids I would love a day to just sit on the beach. I guess you never really realize what a luxury it is until it’s taken away.

Anyway, I digress.

The only thing I remember about Cocoa Beach was how perfectly perfect it was. The water was warm, the weather was great. I think I even uttered the phrase, “this is so nice” about a million times annoying the crap out of Jen.

She still loves me though. :)

After our day at the beach we went back to Danielle’s house and celebrated my 28th birthday.

The fact I’m turning 38 this year is blowing my mind, so let’s move on.

The next day Jen and I headed to Animal Kingdom. It was pretty new back then and both of us had never been.

We are both animal people (Jen more so than I as she’s the one with fur babies) and truth be told, big dorks.

I’m pretty sure the safari was our favorite part as I have a ton of random animal photos in my archives.

Lest we forget, we were 28 on this trip so there were quite a few nights out drinking.

A lot of drinking.  200407_K

There’s also more than a few more photos I probably shouldn’t share but this one cracks me up.

Jen may kill me.

She has no idea I’m posting this so I hope she gets a good chuckle.

I can’t wait to see were our future adventures take us.
