Instead of taking a nap, I decided to walk . I realized that I have been to New York MANY times and have never walked through Central Park…weird. So….when I looked at the hotel window and saw trees, I decided this was going to be my afternoon adventure. It could not take me more then an hour….right?
WRONG.
My whole idea of a “park” is a loop and a swing set. I soon realized that I could really get lost without a landmark so I turned around to find a building to keep my eye on.
What a view.
After I found my bearings I was determined to find the fountain. You know the one from all the movies? I looked carefully at a map and started walking with confidence. I could not believe all the things that just literally blew my mind. I don’t know if it is my age or whatever but I just appreciate little things . Here are some things that I saw on my walk.
The architecture and little details around the park were interesting.
But then , when I was focusing my attention on my fountain destination, I heard this singing.
I walked under the steps by the fountain and saw a group of children singing a type of music that I have never heard before. Honestly….I was stopped in my tracks and I cannot tell you that it has ever happened. I cannot even explain what kind of music it was. I listened for about 20 minutes.
Pressing on….
TURTLES!!!!!
Confession: I am an animal FREAK.
I was looking at the scenery watching the canoes full of people and looked down at the water (surprisingly clean) and saw something looking up at me. I am telling you there were at least 8 turtles in the water searching for food. No one really noticed….WHY!!! They were AWESOME!!! The next time you are standing at the waters edge, look down.
Destination accomplished! The fountain!!!
Finally, I had to pee. Problem. I am thinking that looking at the fountain gave me the urge.
Note to self: make sure before you walk the park, use the bathroom at the hotel.
I finally found one ten minutes later and of course….there was a line. I decided to just walk back to the hotel.
Well maybe run.
