I’m wrapping up my last night in Florence and I’m speechless. Tuscany really is the most beautiful countryside and the city is bustling with energy. I think I walked here more than anywhere and if my calculations are correctly, I hiked up over 1000 steps to see the most gorgeous views.
Here’s a few pictures but I must say, they don’t do the scenery any justice.
Leaving Venice. We have such a great group and our Tour Director is great!
I stepped through the archway at Pisa and was taken back. The architecture was stunning!
I knew it was the leaning tower but man.. it really leans!
I had to go up. I just HAD to!
Mom came up too. It was quite the hike!
We spent the evening touring a monastery and having dinner with entertainment.
- Wait until you see the video!
Florence at night!
Just the girls on our tour group. It’s a great bunch!
Our morning started at The Ponte Vecchio with a walking tour of Florence.
The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore aka The Duomo
The Piazza di Santa Croce Square.
Back to the The Duomo to climb the 463 steps to the top! Like Pisa, I HAD to do it.
And like Pisa, it was TOTALLY worth it.
The rolling hills of Tuscany. Photo does not do it justice.
A visit to San Gimignana.
Another tower another reason to climb!
Another TOTALLY worth it moment.
My trip is coming to an end. Tomorrow we leave for Rome with a stop at Siena. Thankfully I’m going to have an 8 hour plane ride Sunday to digest all that I have done because right now, I still can’t grasp that I’m actually here seeing and experiencing all these amazing things. I was brought to tears more than a few times and thinking about it now I start to well up.

January 18, 2013You bought the hat!! I love it. Thanks so much for sharing this trip with us...the photos are beautiful and seeing the joy on your and your mom's faces is a gift for someone like me who doesn't like to travel. The Leaning Tower of Pisa...wow, it really does lean more than I thought it did, too! What a great photo. I hope your plane ride home is peaceful.
