For the past 18 years I’ve called Seaside Heights home for one week each summer. My husband’s family has been going even longer, and I love that we have continued the tradition with our kids. My almost-8-year-old has gone 8 times and looks forward to it all year long.
When Sandy hit, I was beyond emotional. I couldn’t imagine how devastating the storm was for them. The photos were jaw-dropping. I wanted to help but wasn’t sure how, so I made a donation to Hurricane Sandy Jersey Relief Fund and vowed to go again this summer to support the community. I’m hoping to find some volunteer opportunities we can do as a family while we are there.
When Jen visited last week, I was relieved to hear some were hopeful but was still shocked at the photos. I don’t have digital images from every year I visited, but I thought I’d share a few shots from vacations past. Join me as I travel down memory lane at Seaside Heights New Jersey.

No kids yet! My 8th year visiting Seaside Heights already. We’ve been married for 2 and before then I’d go with my husband’s family every year they went, which is every year. :)

March 18, 2013Wow! What a great post. I had seen all of your pics of the East Coast Northern beaches and always wondered about how they were. I grew up in Florida and now live in Alaska so my husband and I have wanted to take our boys (4 and 2) to the East coast beaches some day and see some historical sites as well. Traveling with kids can be kinda scary because I don't even know where to start and what to do it - how to get around etc seems there is so much to choose from Maine to North Carolina but maybe Seaside Heights will be a good option to check out.The boardwalk and rides seem so cute and nostalgic. I hope those who suffered through Sandy and finding their way back to some sort of normalcy by now. I really like your sites. I don't always have time to read all your posts but they are so positive and normal your boys are so precious. Cheers to your happy family and keep up the good work! :)
