As we strolled through the BlogHer Conference Expo, Jen and I couldn’t help but gravitate towards the vendors that had travel-friendly products. Booth to booth we’d look at each other and say, “Genius” or “We could totally use this at the beach next year!” So we decided to gather a list of our favorites.
1. Water Purification Tabs
On the Go
Roni: As an UNwordly traveler, I rarely think of water quality but I’m aware of how much this is an issue in other areas of the world. I was surprised to learn about Aquatabs Water Purification Tabs, which kill microorganisms in the water helping to prevent cholera, typhoid, dysentery and other water-borne diseases.
Jen: This would have helped when I went to Mexico and Jamaica. Well, now I know.
2. Portable Pet Water Bowls
Roni: Activyl, a pet flea and tick treatment product, was giving away free, portable, pet water bowls at their booth and Jen was ecstatic. She has this pet travel obsession and plans on bringing her Yorkie-Bishon, Shelby on her next trip.
Jen: I DO have a pet travel obsession and I DO plan on bringing my Yorkie-Bishon, Shelby on my next trip …
Just look at that face!
Roni: Yes, she’s THAT kind of person. Click here to see a cool portable dog bowl on Amazon.
3. A GOOD Travel Pillow
Roni: Are you one of those people who needs a travel pillow on any trip that requires a flight over 2 hours? I am. I also keep buying cheapo “U” pillows from snack shops but no more! I was the lucky winner of the Technogel Sleeping Travel pillow at the conference and I couldn’t be happier! It’s like a putting your head on a cloud.
Jen: I was mad. I was walking around wanting this pillow so bad. Oh well. Roni better not leave it unattended, just sayin’.
Roni: Oh, you know I’ll end up giving it you or losing it. lol
4. Portable Quick Meals
Roni: I’m not one for many pre-made meals but sometimes, especially when traveling, having some handy to grab and go is convenient. When I tried one of the new Hormel Rev Wraps at the expo I was shocked how good it was. It literally tasted as if I made the wrap myself. Jen thought so too, and ended up stealing mine when I gave her a bite.
Jen: What she says is true. I wasn’t even hungry! They were just that good!
5. Alcohol on the Go
Roni: Like the wraps but better! Who knew they made ready to drink, frozen alcoholic beverages? As soon as Jen and I tried them we looked at each other and said, “These would be perfect for the beach!”
Jen: These are also great to keep in the fridge for those. “I. need. a .drink” moments.
Roni: You seem to have those a lot. lol
6. Squeezable Snacks
Roni: You know they market these for kids but neither of mine are big fans. I AM! They are perfect for road trips, slip easily into your purse and there are no utensils needed. You can also freeze them for a refreshing beach treat!
Jen: My granddaughter loves them! She just had one the other day in a grocery store. Even at 10 months she can hold it herself and squeeze. Plus they store easily and keep for a long time.
Roni: I just can’t get over you’re a grandmother. OK, moving on.
7. Manicures in Transit
Roni: Jen is CONSTANTLY making fun of me for letting my eyebrows go wild, my roots show and barely having an accessory to my name. What can I say, I’m busy! And I’m going to bet you are, too. Sometimes you just don’t have time!
I wouldn’t have believed this unless I tried it myself but these press-on nails by Kiss are pretty impressive (pun intended) and are THAT easy to put on. This is Jen in flight.
I love that they have short lengths, fun prints and solids.
Jen: LOVE this! I try to have my hair and nails done at all times, and these are fantastic! They have crazy colors (like the ones I put on while on the plane) or they have a simple French manicure. So whatever you are doing, there is a nail style for you. The application was quick and easy and eliminates taking the nail polish, nail polish remover, and nail file on your carry-on. Did I tell you that I LOVE these?
Roni: Wow, we really couldn’t be more opposite. lol Click here to see Kiss imPress Nails on Amazon
8. Emergency Coffee
Roni: As a non-coffee drinker I rarely get the caffeine obsession you guys seem to have but Jen was quite impressed by these little packs. She was all like, “Look, they can fit in my purse!” OK, then.
Jen: Roni really doesn’t understand, but when you go on vacation with her, you NEED coffee. She goes non-stop! I loved that I can put these in my bag and use it anywhere. Genius.
9. Convenient Kids Cures
Roni: If you have kids you know how much of a pain it is to administer medicine. Those serving cups or droppers are hard to keep track of and they all seem to have different units on them. PediCare is coming out with preportioned, single-serving medicine packs that can easily be stored in your purse or diaper bag. I have a feeling they are going to be a staple on our family trips. Look for these in stores this September.
Jen: These are great for when mom is on the go OR when you leave the husband or babysitter in charge of administering the medicine. We have all received that text or phone call, “How much do I give them again?” Now you can go out with your friends for dinner and not worry. I might use these for myself.
10. Travel Monitoring
Roni: Jen always wonders what Shelby is doing while she’s away, so you should have seen her face when we got to the Dropcam booth. A small, affordable camera that allows you to monitor your home. Honestly, this was my favorite find of the expo. For $149 you can purchase a 2-way audio, night vision capable, zoomable, camera that streams HD video to your smart phone? Oh! and you can record, get mobile alerts and share the feed? Seriously? THIS is going on my Christmas list for sure! Click here to check it out on Amazon.
Jen: I do miss my dogs when I am traveling or at work. I AM one of those people! This would make me feel better about leaving home and I love that it has a microphone so you can talk to them.
Roni: See, told you. Those people. lol Love you Jen.

July 30, 2013Sorry about that comment above. My phone keyboard is acting up. I love posts like this. Great travel products! I appreciate the tip on the pillow. I also often end up buying a U pillow which I don't find all that comfortable. The water purification tabs are a great option for our upcoming travels in Southern Africa. The single serving children's medications are great too especially with all the rules on carrying liquids. Cute nails Jen! I try to look my best when I fly. It makes me feel better. I've noticed that some airports now offer mini salons. I had my hair washed and blow dried in Johannesburg. I got an express manicure in the Bahamas. Thanks for sharing. I've added the pillow to my Amazon wishlist.

August 4, 2013Thank you!! I really do love those nails. I have seen the manicure and hair places in the airports now. Why didn't they do that before? DUH. My recent find at the airport was a Red Box. Genius.

August 11, 2013It was great seeing you both at BlogHer 13 so soon after Fitbloggin. I wasn't going to try those press on nails but now that I see they're shorter length I'll give them a chance.
