It’s cold and rainy in Venice right now but I still couldn’t be more impressed with this city. I’ve never seen anything like it. The water, the bridges, the shopping, the history, the food, all of it is simply unbelievable. After touring the Doge’s Palace I’m now fascinated and awe inspired by Venetian culture and history. St. Mark’s square is breathtaking and the city is just oozing with interesting buildings, shops and people.
Here’s a few shots from our last 2 days.
Scenery leaving Rome
Mom fell asleep almost immediately.
I stayed up and kept snapping.
Snow as we climbed the Apennine Mountains!
You can’t get this kind of food at American rest stops. That’s for sure!
My eyes just wouldn’t stay open any longer. (Taken by our new friend Ros)
Yahoo!!
Mainland Venice was much more industrial than I expected. Reminded me of Baltimore.
Our view coming in on the water taxi.
Our hotel has the coolest keys!
View from the Gondola ride.
Mom was LOVING it!
St. Mark’s Square
The glass blowing demonstration was amazing!
It was raining but we were still having a blast.
The gondolas were “grounded” due to rising water levels. So glad we got our ride in!
We enjoyed our tour of Doge’s Castle.
The view from the Bridge of Sighs. (Last view saw before going to prison, hence the name)
Water just kept rising!
We went to Barona (a Venice Island) for dinner.
Part of our crazy tour group. Love them all!
STILL RAIING! But still awesomesauce. :)
TOTALLY fell in love with this hat!
Tomorrow we head out for Florence! We are expected more rain and some snow tomorrow but I hear Friday is suppose to be beautiful! Stay tuned for more pics. :)
